Gaining meaningful work experience through community, peace, and justice.
The mission of Lutheran Service Corps is to expand peace with justice in greater Omaha by developing and intentional community of volunteers.
Lutheran Service Corps is a service year program. Volunteers are placed at local nonprofit organizations to help them with their missions. Volunteers participate in a program that encompasses community living, simple living, social justice, and spiritual exploration in a non-denominational setting.
“I LOVED living in Hillstrom house! While there were only two volunteers my year, we still managed to make the large house feel cozy. Another plus of the location is that there is a bus stop right outside that was helpful for us getting around the city.” – Elizabeth Kulus 2020-2021
“Working at the Omaha Municipal Land Bank allowed me to become familiar with the many organizations working to create equitable housing, transit, and land use in a city that remains highly segregated by race and class. Seeing the folks dedicated to transforming their own community from the ground up made me optimistic about the role future LSC volunteers will play in creating a better Omaha.”- Joey Secrest 2018-2019
